Car care guides
Plan washing, contamination cleanup and follow-up care for your installed film.
Keep the film name, covered panel list and installation date together with the care instructions. Ask the shop to confirm the first wash and any product-specific waiting period. Different documents and film systems can give different timing guidance, so use the instructions agreed for your actual installation instead of guessing from an unrelated package.
3M recommends hand washing when possible. Its PPF guidance warns that brush washes can scratch or dull film and lift edges. If considering an automated wash, check the instructions for the selected product first. Keep washing tools clean and avoid treating film as though it were an unprotected painted surface.
3M’s film guidance recommends softening stubborn contamination before rinsing and drying, while avoiding abrasive tools. Promptly discuss fuel spills or difficult marks with the shop. If you are uncertain about the cleaner or the finish, send a photo and ask before applying a stronger product. A mark is easier to assess before several treatments have been tried.
If an edge appears lifted or damaged, photograph the area and contact Finesse. Describe when it appeared and what cleaning or contact the panel has had. Let us assess the film before attempting to trim, glue or pull it yourself. The location and installation record help us understand which covered piece is affected.
Contact us about your filmWhen booking polishing, body repairs or other vehicle work, explain which panels have PPF. Film and exposed paint have different service considerations. Keep any paperwork and care requirements accessible so the next appointment is planned around the actual protected surfaces.
